When Paul said we are fools for Christ, I don't think he meant try your darndest be a moron.
I don't know about you, but I tend to believe that God isn't actively trying to lie to us by doing shit like creating a young universe that only appears to be fifteen billion or so years old.

It is scarey people like this that are giving science a bad name and are missleading (probably intentionally) those who are not educated enough about science to see these people for what they are. If you have made up your mind and are not open to changing it no matter what then you are not doing science and to claim you are is simple to misslead and missguide people.
